Kalimata Brickfield lies on the outskirts of the village Koikala near Kolkata in India. Migrants travel 100km from the states of Jharkhand and Bihar to live and work for eight months of the year, to then return home for just four months during the rainy season. They live, work and play in the small confines of this brickfield.
The children have no school and spend much of their day working beside their parents. Loreto Day School Sealdah in Kolkata support local teachers to spend three hours every day teaching at 26 different Brickfields around Kolkata. This is the only education these children will receive during their childhood.
